National Poison Prevention Week is the third week in March every year. Josh Heupel, #14, The University of Oklahoma's 2000 National Championship Quarterback, donated his time to help support the Oklahoma Poison Control Center's effort to help promote public awareness and education to prevent poisonings in Oklahoma.
Through teamwork and collaboration, this project was a success! Ten thousand posters were printed which were distributed statewide to pharmacies, daycares, OSU extension offices, Health Departments, Women, Infants and Children (WIC) sites and hospitals. The Department of Human Services mailed posters out to all licensed daycare centers in the state. Children's Hospital of Oklahoma donated half the costs of printing and the graphic artist time and talents.
Thanks to all who helped make National Poison Prevention Week a success!
"Children Act Fast, So Do Poisons" is the national theme for 2001 Poison Prevention Week. Marina Kravtova's poster was chosen for the National Poison Prevention Week poster. Marina is from Tuttle Oklahoma. Congratulations Marina!
